Fav Links

There are sites that I just love to visit, and want to share with you.  These are links for sites I often visit or love to look to for inspiration.  Send me your ideas and I'll keep this list growing!

Entertaining
  • Gourmet Game Night: this Seattle-local wrote this book that's growing in popularity and is now being sold at Crate and Barrel.  She has some great reccomendations for pairing great party food (she's a chef) with fun party games.
Cooking/Diet
  • Food: (Formally Recipe Zaar) This is my favorite home-recipe shared site.  I have several recipes posted here and find tons of ideas.  I specifically learned how to make restaurant-style fluffy eggs here.  Invaluable skill.
  • Food Network: I, of course, watch this channel obsessively.  I do like to visit their site to follow up on culinary ideas and celebrity chefs I want to see more from.  My favs include Ina Garten, Giada DeLaurentiis, Anne Burrell, and Sandra Lee.
  • Weight Watchers: They key to my weight-loss success is this great program.  It's so simple!  I don't go to meetings, simply use the online tool which is a cinch (since I'm on my computer all day anyway)
Lifestyle
  • Oprah Nation: Everything you need to know is on this site.  She covers all of the topics we do here but with a few more celebrities.  I get her weekly email newsletter too, which is full of advice.
  • Martha Stewart: Come on, I had to list her.  She is the queen of all that is home making.  So many good ideas on this site!
  • The Nest: From the makers of The Knot, this sites caters to our audience.  I do like this site although I don't think I goes deep enough of some of the topics.  It's got a great breadth of info for those new to the nest.
Money Management
  • Mint: The ultimate in manaing your budget.  It gives me my own dashboard of every account, every dollar, every loan, all in one place.  I can organize it, categorize it and budget it... booyah.
  • Learn Vest: My new fav to learn to live stylishly within your means.  GREAT daily and weekly emails with tips, tools and articles I devour.
Home Decorating
  • DIY Network: This is another one of my favorite e-newsletter subscriptions.  It's creative, out of the box and thorough.  There are ideas in here I will never do, but lots I would consider and it keeps me thinking!
  • BHG: From the time my girlfriend Margo bought me my first Better Homes & Gardens subscription, I've been hooked.  I pull magazine articles out and file them for future ideas.  Their recipes are easy and yummy.  And their website offers even more!
Blogs I Can't Live Without
  • SkinnyTaste - great low-fat recipes that include the Weight Watchers points (old and new) calculated for you!  (Thanks to Heather Doran for sharing!)
  • AmyChow - a funny food writer who doesn't cook (well).  Check out the videso - she makes "stupidly simple" recipes for the beginner cook.
  • Get Rich Slowly - Although I'd love to get rich quickly, this does seem to make more sense.
  • Fabulous & Frugal - A Girl's Guide to Living Well & Spending Wisely
  • Comfy Belly - Awesome unique recipes that focus on eating healthy and well!  (written by a member of the JeffreyM Consulting Team and colleauge of mine)
  • Eat Drink Chic - A cute blog of many found cute pictures and inspiration, with some unique ideas too.  (Thanks to Dana Rohrbacher for sharing!)
  • The Man Repeller - This site is flippin' hilarious.  The author investigates the whole world of fashion as it relates to attracting (or repelling, in this case) men.  I especially like her "Birth Control Glasses".  (Thanks to my Mom for sharing!)
